Water Wellness is my word for drinking water properly and sufficiently. Did you know that most people walk around dehydrated and do not drink enough water each day? According to herballegacy.com, “Sixty to seventy percent of the human body contains water. The brain is composed of approximately 70% water, and the lungs are nearly 90% water. Lean muscle tissue contains approximately 75% water by weight; body fat contains 10% water and bone has 22% water. About 83% of our blood is water, which helps digest our food, transport waste, and control body temperature. Each day humans must replace at least 2.5 quarts of water, some through drinking and the rest taken by the body from the foods we eat. The human body discharges at least ½ a gallon of fluid a day and this perpetual loss of liquid must be replenished.” Did you also know that a 2% drop in body water can trigger: fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or a printed page. Caffeine has a diuretic effect, pulling water out of cells and the body, further promoting dehydration, and according to pathmed.com, to replace the water lost from soft drinks one needs to consume 8-12 glasses for every glass of soda consumed.
Not all toxins are filtered out of the water we drink every day. Using a personal water filter with your drinking water and shower may be essential to good health. I really like the Berkey Water Filter. I believe it is one of the best on the market for filtering out toxins. They provide water borne contaminate removal and have small travel sizes to those who hold 6 gallons. Consider testing if you have concerns, because contaminates cause all kinds of health issues. Bacteria, Germs, Pathogens, Microbes, Viruses, Parasites and their eggs are all known as microorganisms. These minute living organisms, germs and viruses cause water borne diseases, and infection commonly results during bathing, washing, drinking, in the preparation of food, or the consumption of food from these microorganisms.
The following small water filter pitchers results were published by Natural News Labs:
Health officials are also concerned with chlorinating by-products called “chlorinated hydrocarbons” or trihalomethanes (THM’s). They say that most THM’s are formed in drinking water when chlorine reacts with naturally occurring substances, such as decomposing plant and animal materials. They also believe risks for certain types of cancer are now being correlated to the consumption of chlorinated drinking water. The President’s Council on Environmental Quality states that “there is increased evidence for an association between rectal, colon and bladder cancer and the consumption of chlorinated drinking water.” Suspected carcinogens make the human body more vulnerable through repeated ingestion and research indicates the incidence of cancer is 44% higher among those using chlorinated water.”
Plastic Water Bottles use is another red flag because they are made from polyethylene terephthalate. When heated, the material releases the chemicals antimony, which is considered a carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, and Bisphenol-A which is commonly called a BPA. I believe more attention should be given to any drinks packaged with polyethylene terephthalate plastic, such as milk, coffee and acidic juice because of this risk of cancer. More recently, Dr. Frank Shallenberger claimed that estrogen-like chemicals such as Bisphenol-A are “feminizing” and are not only present in plastic drink bottles but detergents, personal care products, air fresheners, paints and more. All these chemicals or hormones can leak into the water from the bottle Shallenberger states, and says all sorts of health problems can result.
So what are some options then besides re-filtering our own water?
- Hydrogen Waterhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7aDB7pKYiM
- Ionized water is drinking water that has undergone a process known as ionization. This process segregates the acid and alkaline content found in H2O. The water goes through the electrolysis process, taking advantage of the naturally occurring electric charge found within magnesium and calcium ions. When successfully ionized, it is said that this type of drinking water can help enhance the ability of the blood to carry oxygen and also assist in neutralizing free radicals in the bloodstream.
- Distilled water is water that is purified of contaminants through the distillation process. Water is brought to a boil and converted to steam. The steam flows through cooling tubes and condenses back into pure water. This is different than filtering water. This process is supposed to remove potentially harmful organisms and chemicals.
- Alkaline Water – You could also make your own alkaline water by squeezing an organic lemon or lime into your filtered water. The higher the alkaline in water, the better and lemon and limes are great for this.
- Willard’s Water has a pH of 12.3. It is not regular water or a nutrient, but a vehicle by which nutrients are carried throughout the body’s cells, and by which waste is carried away from the cells with water as a means of transportation. Active Ingredients: CAW Micelle Water 99.3%, Sodium Metasilicate 87.5%, Sulfated Castor Oil 11.5%, CAW Micelle 0.39, Refined Lignite 0.23%, Calcium Chloride 0.4%, Magnesium Sulfate 0.4%. See this video. Applications of Willard Water include the following: animal shampoo and itch reliever, fish tank purifier, injury (wound/cut/burn) healer, seed starter, prolongation of life of cut flowers, and house plant fertilizer. Many human testimonials are also available, including the following: wound healing, alleviation of pain, dermatology application (ie, clear complexion), mild tranquilizer, hair care (ie, control frizz and dandruff), relief of sore throat, and potential antibacterial properties. According to some, Willard’s Water may increase enzyme activity (eg, assimilate nutrients more efficiently) and immune system functioning. See Disclaimer.
And just in case…Emergency Water – According to Natural News, activated charcoal can be used to “build your own makeshift water filtration system using a 5-gallon bucket, a few pounds of pebbles and some clean sand. First, drill a hole in the bottom of a bucket or pail, then fill the bucket’s bottom section with several inches of small pebbles. Then place a fine screen (made from a polymer material is best) on top of the rocks. This is to prevent the charcoal from running out between the pebbles. Then pack in several inches of activated charcoal powder on top of the screen. Top that off with at least six inches of clean sand and cover it with a cloth. Pour the water directly onto the cloth and it will filter down through the sand, the charcoal and the pebbles. You’ve got a makeshift gravity water filter!”
Drinking filtered, clean water is so important to the health of the human body. Fresh water may not always be what we are drinking, so remember to drink properly and sufficiently. Here’s to water wellness…Drink up!
