Removing metal toxins from the body is becoming more important every day, as we are now being exposed to dangerous chemicals daily. What toxins you may ask? Poisonous metal substances that are found in our air, water, food, homes and workplace, cookware, personal care products, dental work, vaccinations, drugs, and the list goes on! Are you overwhelmed yet, because I am!
What can toxins do anyways? Well, think Alzheimer’s, dementia, osteoporosis, kidney problems, cancer, ETC…You get the idea!
Should We Test For Metals? Yes!
According to the Great Plains Laboratory, the benefits of metals testing are to:
- Determine if metal toxicity or mineral deficiency is contributing to a disorder
- Monitor effects of chelation (elimination of heavy metals from the body)
- Identify if supplementation of important minerals may bring about significant improvements
HOW DO YOU TEST METAL TOXICITY?
Hair testing, using strands of hair can give you the information you need to understand your health. It’s kind of like your fingerprint you could say. There are blood vessels that live at the base of our hair strands that collect everything: DNA, natural oils, toxins, diseases, vitamins or the lack of, and many other things, including drugs used or not used. So a hair analysis can “read” our health to a certain extent, because the toxic elements may be 200-300 times more concentrated in hair than in the blood or urine.
Here is a sample report from a hair analysis:
WHAT CAN WE DO BESIDES TESTING FOR TOXINS?
There are many natural options that counteracts metal toxicity that we are learning about.
Equisetum arvense or the horsetail herb may be able to remove aluminum from your body in a safe and natural way. Aluminum is not our friend and it damages the brain causing Alzheimer’s and dementia. Horsetail has been used for centuries by the Romans and ancient Greeks. This herb may also help with interstitial cystitis, calming weak bladder tissue and aiding and strengthening the kidneys. It also helps osteoporosis. Drinking horsetail tea may also help with the urinary excretion of aluminum.
Cautions: Horsetail plants absorbs heavy metals wherever it is grown, so buy from a trusted source. Too much may not be a good thing, as it can possibly deplete B1 and thiamine in the body.
HOW TO DETOX FROM OTHER METAL TOXINS:
I recently purchased a rare book entitled, Organotropia as a Basis of Therapy by Hans Kalm MD. In it he speaks about the antagonistic or counteraction of metal toxicity using natural antidotes. You can learn more about this study below if you access the online PDF.

The bottom line is that we need to heal from these toxins so that we enjoy a better quality of life, especially as we age. Any information that we can learn about fighting for our health, is worth the search I am sure you’ll agree. Health to you as you travel on your journey!
