There is a lot confusion about the Coronavirus or COVID-19. Even the professionals seem to be scrambling for solutions. So we pray for those affected and those not, and for a quick stop to this terrible outbreak!
What we think we know about Coronavirus (COVID-19):
First know that these thoughts on the virus are always changing…
- It’s an airborne and severe acute respiratory disease, a cousin to the SARS virus.
- Incubation (contagious) period for the virus can take up to 24 days.
- Patients testing positive for the virus, but have no symptoms should remain isolated for at least 24 days not just 14.
- Symptoms can show up from 2 to 14 days after exposure.
- The virus may or may not survive on smooth surfaces.
- People who have received the flu shot will probably test positive for the virus.
- There are many “false positives” with some of the tests.
- Especially vulnerable are older people, people with weaken immune systems or illnesses, and small children.
- The virus seems to effect more men than women, and possibly up to 10% of those exposed, although no one really knows for sure. The World Health Organization says the current mortality rate is 3.4%.
- Symptoms can include: cough, fever, shortness of breath, pneumonia, respiratory failure and even septic shock.
- The virus can spread through breathing, coughing, sneezing, touching infected people or things such as door handles.

Can We Prevent or Treat COVID-19?
Because there are so many unknowns about this virus, we need to do the very best to prevent the spreading of it. Here are some suggestions:
- See this Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Working Group‘s new successful Critical Care Protocol BEFORE you go into the hospital or notify your physician about your symptoms.
- Prepare your home with food, basic necessities and medicine for at least one month BEFORE it hits your city.
- Keep yourself healthy now. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins.
- Fruits and vegetables are a healthier diet. Eat well!
- Vitamin C 1,000 mg/3x daily will help keep your immune system fortified. See below for more suggestions.
- The virus can be transferred in various ways, so protective eye wear and mask should be considered.
- Medical masks should be a must if you are contagious, but some are better than others. Read this review. Many suggest a N95 mask is helpful.
- Prevent transmission with isolation. All family members and healthcare personnel, including medical, nursing, clinical technicians, laboratory staff, housekeeping services and dietary support must wear proper protection. Read about necessary precautions here.
- Take notice of where (i.e. country) and from whom you make your purchases. Some face masks are being produced in China.
- Wash your hands and not with hand sanitizers either! (See the elementary classroom experiment below)
“We took fresh bread and touched it.” — explains Jaralee in her Facebook post that has been shared about 70K times.
The first piece was rubbed on all of the classroom laptops. The second one was a control piece — it wasn’t touched, it was placed immediately in the plastic bag and labeled “Fresh and untouched.” The third piece of bread was touched by the whole class using unwashed hands. For piece #4 the whole class washed their hands with warm water and soap and, again, touched the slice. And for bread piece #5, they cleaned their hands with hand sanitizer and then touched it.
Possible Preventative Measures To Consider:
- Consider these ideas from my post, 100 Natural Ways To Prevent The Flu.
- Vitamin C 1,000 mg/3x daily
- Elderberry, selenium, licorice root, N-acetyl cysteine, and spirulina.
- Herbacetin, rhoifolin and pectolinarin were found to efficiently block the enzymatic activity of SARS-CoV 3CLpro. Herbacetin contains a flavonoid that exists in flaxseed.(1) Rhiofolin comes from citrus peels. Pectolinarin flavonoid has been identified as big sage or tickberry.
- Use a diffuser in the home with natural essential oils, particularly clove oil which has a high ORAC value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity).
- Activated charcoal has been used in emergency rooms to remove toxins/food poisoning in the gut.
