Have you ever thought about all the chemicals we ingest, breathe or put on our bodies every day?
Today there are over 150 chemicals found in homes that can be connected to allergies, birth defects, cancer, physiological disorders and more. Our everyday cleaning products contain many of these chemicals, so why not try all natural cleaning solutions instead? There are many options and believe it or not, they don’t kill you when you use them either.
I love to clean with vinegar. Vinegar is antimicrobial and helps to fight: listeria, staphylococcus, salmonella, clostridium botulinum and escherichia coli. Imagine what vinegar can do for your gut then! Buy cheap vinegar for cleaning and if you need to balance your gut’s pH, use the organic apple cider version.
Another cleaning option is borax, which has boron in it and was originally extracted from the California and Nevada deserts. Borax can be used for cleaning laundry and makes your clothes extra white. It also has many other uses such as a: preservative, fire retardant chemical, fluoride detox, and vitamin supplement.
Hydrogen Peroxide is another option when it comes to cleaning. Hydrogen peroxide is a disinfectant and can be combined with vinegar and baking soda to be even more effective. I have actually used this combination to clean my bathroom drain when it’s not too bad. You can read more about my 70 Hydrogen Peroxide Uses here.
Another soap that I simply love is Dr. Bronner’s Castille Soap whose beginnings date back to the 11th Century or earlier. You can use this all natural soap for showering, washing clothes, and your body. It’s wonderful and contains everything from coconut and olive oil to hemp seed and jojoba oil, and also peppermint, vitamin E and other essential oils.
Lemons are great for the body and can help balance your pH and even help dissolve kidney stones. But lemons are also a very good cleaning agent. I have actually cut them in half and wiped my faucet, counter top and cutting board with them to get rid of any bacteria and stains. Lemons are antibacterial and antimicrobial and they leave everything smelling fresh.
Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate should be in every home. Do you know that Dr. Simoncini an Italian doctor states that baking soda works wonderfully against cancer? It balances pH also and has been reported to keep cancer in check. It is a component of the mineral natron and is found in therapeutic mineral springs and is medicinally beneficial. Baking soda can be used to clean: stinky stuff, crayon on the wall, odors, dirty dishes and bathrooms and the list goes on. Remember to combine it with any of the ingredients above to create stronger cleaning power. I especially like using these all natural cleaning solutions because I don’t have to wear a mask when cleaning and they are much safer to use.
And lastly, we can’t forget the salt. Salt is great for cleaning mouth wounds, soothing sore throats, making brass and copper polish, removing water marks, relieving stings and bites, cleaning your fish tank and 60 other ways to use it according to Reader’s Digest.
So there you have it! Clean with natural cleaning products and your home and you will be better for it. But just in case…Here are some more all-natural cleaning ideas that will help you reduce the use of toxic chemicals in your home and keep your family chemical free.
